Hearing FAQs

Audiology is a branch of science that studies hearing, balance, and related disorders. Audiologists treat those with hearing loss and proactively prevent damage. Our team is staffed of audiologists who have years of experience helping both adults and children with their hearing health.

Tympanometry is an acoustic evaluation of the condition of the middle ear and eardrum and the conduction bones by creating variations of air pressure in the ear canal. We will use tympanometry during your hearing exam to measure how sound is transmitted through your middle ear.

How to clear blocked earwax is easy when you visit a professional such as the audiologists at CRM Audiology. Sometimes blocked earwax can cause muffled hearing, discomfort, and tinnitus. We can safely and effectively remove earwax in our office. You should never use cotton swabs to remove earwax as they can damage the delicate parts of your ear.

People who experience tinnitus often report symptoms of dizziness as well. This is because both conditions are closely related to your ear health. If you are experiencing dizziness and tinnitus, please contact us for a hearing check-up.

Auditory processing disorder testing refers to the evaluation of the central, opposed to the peripheral, auditory system. Several tests of central auditory function comprise an auditory processing diagnosis.

At CRM Audiology, we carry a wide variety of hearing aids and assistive listening devices, including FM systems. FM systems make it easier to hear in complex environments, such as in the classroom, lecture hall, or in a conference room. If you are interested in our assistive listening devices, please contact us.
